The image below is the rough out line of the layout I am building in the loft “for my son to play with”
It is drawn with Xtrack and to begin with only incorporated the top half of the plan which is actually laid and being scenically improved now. It is a very rough copy of Maindee East which was a layout featured in the Railway Modeller some months ago. The bottom half of the layout is a altered version of Plan 13 in the 12th edition of the Peco setrack planbook. Wiring for this layout will be a logistical nightmare as will the points automation as there are over 40 sets of points. As work on the layout progresses speed camera symbols will start appearing on the layout drawing. Each symbol will be linked to a thumbnail image at the bottom of this page. If you click on a symbol you will instantly be transported to the corresponding thumbnail which in turn will be linked to a section of this site detailing the area of the layout whether it is just a photo slide show or a small narrative history of the manufacture of a feature of the layout.
