No brewery would be operational without the odd dray lorry to deliver the beer. This kit is an ideal companion to Metcalfe’s Brewery Kit. I started as you should always start a model kit by checking the contents are all there. The instructions are easy to follow and the exploded drawings clear and concise. Assembly of the tractor unit was first on the agenda and a quick dry run revealed the need to paint the interior fittings, namely the seats, before any glue was to be applied.
Carefully applied glue ensured a clean looking cab to start painting, With the “Ryton to Brighton” not actually having any actual history and is purely a fictitious layout the colour scheme chosen is entirely my own design due purely to the fact I didn’t have the correct colours in my “paint box”.
The dray trailer was next and on first inspection painting the barrels on the trailer would be a problem especially to get a good looking finish.
I elected to paint the lower half of the barrels when the glue had dried I also painted both trailer parts while the paint pot was out. When the paint was completely dry Assembly of the trailers commenced and with the barrels glued to the bed of the trailer I could finish painting them without the fear of smudging
The remaining assembly and painting was simplicity itself, the finished item shown below
Last but by no means least were the two “chaps” needed to be painted. This is were the modelling magnifier is so handy. Again the uniform colour scheme is of my own design (move over Mr Gucci)
When the layout is ready I will carefully slice the base from the shoes and glue into position in the brewery yard
